Buhari defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and other presidential candidates with over 15,191,847 votes, winning in 19 of the states. Following the collation of results of the 23 February election the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate and incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the 2019 Presidential election on Wednesday.

In total, Ibrahim Oloriegbe secured 72,277 votes while Saraki polled 38,919 votes, meaning he lost out by a whopping 33,358 votes. Senate President Bukola Saraki will not return to the Senate in June 2019, as he has lost the Kwara Central Senatorial District election to Ibrahim Oloriegbe of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Saraki, who ran on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost out in each of the four local governments in the district: Ilorin South, Ilorin West, Ilorin East and Asa. In Ilorin south, Oloriegbe polled 26,331 votes while Saraki secured 13,013 votes. In Ilorin West, Oloriegbe polled 51,531 votes to Saraki's 30,075 votes. In Ilorin East, he got 30,014 votes while Saraki had 14,654; and in Asa, Oloriegbe polled 15,932 while Saraki got 11,252 votes.  In total, Ibrahim Oloriegbe secured 72,277 votes while Saraki polled 38,919 votes, meaning he lost out by a whopping 33,358 votes.

Melaye, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 85,395 votes, against his closest opponent, Smart Adeyemi, who secured 66,901 votes. Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West, in the National Assembly, has secured a return to the Red Chamber. Emmanuel Bala, the returning officer for Kogi West senatorial district, announced Melaye's victory on Monday, having scored the highest number of votes. Melaye, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 85,395 votes, against his closest opponent, Smart Adeyemi, who secured 66,901 votes. Melaye had defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP not too long ago. Speaking on his victory, Melaye tweeted: "To God alone be the glory forever and ever. Amen. I have just been declared winner of the Kogi West Senatorial District Election. God only You would have done this. Kogi West I thank you all. I love you all. What a mighty God we serve."

A suspected ballot box snatcher identified as Demola, said to be an Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) leader in Lagos State, has been stoned to death. Demola was escaping with his motorcycle after allegedly overseeing the snatching of ballot boxes in Okota area of Lagos, when he was apprehended and stoned to death, with his motorcycle burnt. “That’s Demola,” a bystander said at least five times as members of the public came one after the other to pelt him with stones, while he was already weakened and half sprawling on the ground. “That’s Demola on the ground. Residents of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, are currently in panic as series of explosions have rocked the city all within ten minutes. The explosions, seven of them, began at around 5:50am and ended a little around 6am. Residents are worried about their safety, especially with the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled to begin in less than two hours. At the time of this report, it was not clear the number of casualties, or how much properties were destroyed.
