Infinix Hot 9 is the latest in the Hot-series and also the successor of the Hot 8 launched back in 2019. The device maintains same 6.6-inch display, but housed in a more good looking body than it predecessor. The aforementioned 6.6-inch screen has a display resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels, and come with a punch hole screen upfront. Under the hood, the Hot 9 is powered by the Mediatek Helio A25 octa-core CPU, along with PowerVR GE8320 GPU, 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, which can be further expanded using 128GB external SD card. Bauchi Gov, Bala Mohammed tests positive to Coronavirus

Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed has tested positive for Coronavirus. News had reported that the governor placed himself in self isolation after he made contact with Mohammed Atiku, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Atiku’s son tested positive for the deadly virus after he got back to Abuja. Mukhtar M. Gidado Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the Governor in a statement on Tuesday confirmed that the Governor is presently being quarantined after his result came out positive. Gidado disclosed that the governor’s test was the only positive result out of six initial tests carried out by Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) on his family and aides. Presidential Villa shuts down as 3 staff test positive to coronavirus

Three staff of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari have reportedly tested positive to coronavirus. The identities of the trio are unknown yet. The condition of Kyari and his aides has forced the Presidential Villa to shut down as non-essential staff have been asked to stay away. Kyari was in Germany in early March with other Nigerian officials for meetings with Siemens AG. There are fears that the CoS didn’t isolate himself as he attended several meetings and met many individuals. Last week, he led a delegation to Kogi after the death of Governor Yahaya Bello’s mother. Meanwhile, many aides of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo did not report to duty on Tuesday. Osinbajo himself was said to have resumed work behind schedule on Monday.

Coronavirus: Two new cases has been confirmed in Nigeria.

Two new cases of COVID-19, also known as Coronavirus, has been confirmed in Nigeria . One of the new case was confirmed in Abuja and another in Bauchi State. According to the National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, the cases have travel history to Germany and the UK. As the number keeps rising, there are presently 44 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country. Governor Bala Mohammed is the confirmed case in Bauchi State. He had placed himself in self-isolation after he made contact with Mohammed Atiku, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. A tweet by the NCDC on Tuesday reads, “2 new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 1 in FCT and 1 in Bauchi. “The cases have travel history to Germany and the UK. “As at 06:25 pm on 24th March, there are 44 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death.”

Coronavirus: Akeredolu cancels visits to Gov’s office

Following the continuous spread of coronavirus also known as COVID-19 across the country, the Ondo State Government has ordered that markets within the state should be immediately shut down. The directive was given on Tuesday in a statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Donald Ojogo. According to the statement, the move was made as part of measures to to contain the spread of the deadly virus in the country. President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday assured that his administration was committed to protecting Nigerians from the scourge of Coronavirus. Coronavirus: WAEC postpones 2020 examination

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Friday, announced that it has postponed the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates, 2020 indefinitely. This was confirmed in a statement by WAEC Head of National Office, Mr. Patrick Ehidiamen Areghan, on Friday. He said the examination was postponed because of the deadly coronavirus. The exam was scheduled to commence on April 6, 2020. “This is as a result of the impact of the novel and deadly coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and the serious implications it has for the conduct of the WASSCE for school candidates, 2020, coupled with the anxieties it has generated among the populace. “This decision is a demonstration of the organisation’s concern and support for the various protocols being put in place by the Federal and State Governments of Nigeria and the governments of the other member countries to check the spread of the disease.” Areghan further stated that the timetable for the examination had...

Coronavirus: FCT Administration shutdown schools in Abuja

The Federal Capital Administration, FCTA has ordered the closure of schools in the FCT effective Friday 20th, 2020. The move may not be unconnected with the recent confirmation of 12 cases of coronavirus in Nigeria and ongoing rumours of the virus in the FCT. This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the FCT Minister of State, Mr Austine Elemue on Thursday Mr Austine said the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, ordered the shut down of schools as a preventive measure to avoid the spread of the virus which has affected 27 African countries and killed over 6,500 people. Coronavirus: President Buhari commissions emergency number to aid response

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday commissioned the 112 national emergency toll free number. The newly commissioned number is to help citizens who are under any form of emergency to get immediate aide. The free toll number will link anyone under a critical condition to hospital ambulance service, Fire Service, Police and others. Speaking at the commissioning, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Ibrahim Isah Pantami, said the number will be launched in other states across the country. Pantani pointed out that the toll free line will be of immense help to Nigerians at the period of when the dreaded Covid-19 disease is spreading all over the country. He said, “The emergency centre will link anyone who’s in danger and in an emergency condition to the Fire Service, Police and ambulance services. We will take this to other states in the country. Coronavirus: Ogun shutdown schools & bans public worships

Due to the global spread of the Coronavirus and the recent ban on all high-density gatherings in Ogun, the State Government has ordered the closure of schools from Friday, March 20. The Chief Press Secretary to Gov Abiodun, Kunle Somorin, clarified that the ban on high-density gatherings affects all schools, whether public or private, as well as all religious activities in the State. Consequently, the government said, “all schools in the State will remain closed indefinitely after school hours on Friday, March, 20th, 2020.” Somorin added that, “all religious centres and activities including regular and special services that bring together 50 or more persons in the same place are banned with immediate effect. WHO warns Africa to prepare for worst coronavirus cases

The World Health Organization, WHO, has warned African countries to prepare for the worst as coronavirus cases increase in the continent. So far 233 cases of the deadly virus had been registered in sub-Saharan Africa which makes it the least-affected region in a global pandemic. But, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, speaking to journalists in a virtual news conference on Wednesday said Africa needs to wake up as official numbers of COVID-19 cases do not likely reflect the full picture. Few hours ago, Nigeria confirmed five new cases making it eight positive cases of Coronavirus. The Buhari-led Government also placed a travel ban from 13 high risk countries to curb the spread of the virus. Coronavirus: Lagos State Government shuts public, private schools

The Lagos State Government has ordered the closure of all public and private schools due to the coronavirus outbreak. The order is effective from Monday, March 23, 2020. The decision was contained in a statement Wednesday night by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo. She said the move became necessary to prevent children and their teachers from getting more vulnerable. “It is important for parents to ensure that their children practise ‘social distancing’ while at home, wash their hands regularly or use hand sanitisers and observe high standards of personal hygiene. “Children should be encouraged to remain at home. The closure is not intended to create panic but to arrest the spread of the disease, which has become a global threat,” it read. UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, made this known while speaking at the government’s daily press conference on Wednesday.
