Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that there isn’t much he should be expected to do before he can win another Ballon d’Or award. The Juventus star player led Portugal to win the UEFA Nations League trophy on Sunday which is his second international trophy. He led the team to win the Euro 2016 beating host nation France in the final.
“There hasn’t been a period where I’ve played badly, the numbers speak for themselves over the last 16 years,” he said.
“I’ve shown for the majority of my career, independently of what people say, the numbers speak for themselves.”
Despite winning numerous trophies, Ronaldo revealed he’s not obsessed with such success.
“It all helps, collective and individual trophies, but I’m not obsessed by trophies,” he said.
“Obviously I like them, I’m not going to lie.”
The UEFA Nations League silverware puts Ronaldo in the contention for this year’s Ballon d’Or award with Lionel Messi in the way.
“I’ve won three trophies, I’ve played well, what more could I do?” he said.
“Do I deserve it? I don’t know, I’m going to leave that with you. You are the ones that have to judge, I’m not going to assess myself.”
